Harmony Is in Our Hands

About:
‘Harmony Is in Our Hands’ is a new concert series presented by the Gentileschi Baroque ensemble, rooted in Toronto’s artistic and social community. The series seeks to unite music, compassion, and civic engagement through “pay-what-you-wish” performances.
Each concert features local and international musicians performing repertoire inspired by the Baroque spirit of creativity, emotional depth, and shared humanity. The funds raised go to support a charity organization chosen by the performers. This model transforms the act of listening into an act of giving—strengthening both our community and our collective sense of harmony.
Vision and Purpose:
In presenting the series modelled after Artemisia Gentileschi, a trailblazing Baroque painter who overcame profound adversity to claim her voice in a male-dominated world, we honour the resilience and creative power of women. Her legacy inspires our mission:
-
Empowerment through Music: Showcases the work of musicians—local and international—who bring diverse perspectives to live performances.
-
Community Support: Directly benefits Toronto-based and global organizations that serve people in need, creating tangible social impact through the arts.
-
Accessibility and Inclusion: Ensures that everyone, regardless of financial means, can experience high-quality live music through a “pay-as-you-wish” model.
Impact:
-
Cultural: Expands Toronto’s live music scene with accessible, community-driven programming. Promotes female artists and composers who are historically underrepresented on concert stages.
-
Social: Directs financial support to charities serving vulnerable populations. Builds awareness of local social causes through artistic collaboration.
-
Community: Strengthens bonds among artists, audiences, and service organizations. Cultivates empathy, dialogue, and mutual support within Toronto’s diverse neighbourhoods.
